Stroke Facts
If you are a smoker aim to stop smoking, smoking causes not
only stroke, but also Cancer
and heart disease.
Aim to eat a healthy diet and increase your daily physical
activity. If in doubt speak
to your local health promotion officer.
Stroke Action provides the following Services:
  • Visit to community and voluntary groups to raise awareness of stroke causes and consequences.

  • Nurse led stroke prevention clinic to assess for stroke risks and monitor these - held on Saturdays.

  • Health promotion meetings to talk about lifestyle issues - held on the first Friday of the month at 4 p.m.

  • Weekly social stroke support club where members meet to enjoy themselves, to learn and keep fit - held on Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • Annual stroke prevention conference for service users, providers and healthcare staff planned for the month of May each year.

  • Attending learning fairs to raise public awareness of strokes.

  • Telephone helpline providing inforamtion and advise on stroke prevention issues.
